Chicago Office Open
07/27/2009, 08:39 am
Exhibit Concepts, Inc (ECI) has expanded its presence in Chicago with the opening of a 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Elgin, IL. The decision to expand to Chicago was made last year when ECI recognized that in order to better service its clients and continue its growth, the company needed to expand beyond its Dayton headquarters. According to ECI’s President, Kelli Glasser, “We selected Chicago as the site for our initial expansion for several reasons. Chicago continues to be a major hub of trade show activity, our ability to recruit experienced personnel is greatly enhanced and its close proximity to Dayton allows us to effectively support a new office.” Glasser added, “As the economy became more challenging, our commitment to continue to grow our business never wavered. Our expansion in Chicago puts us in an excellent position for the eventual economic recovery.”In Chicago, ECI has developed a different business model than what the industry has traditionally seen. According to Gerry Hyzy, General Manager of the Chicago office, “Typically when an exhibit builder expands to a new market, they duplicate their production operation and add to their overhead costs. In our case, exhibit fabrication will be performed at our main facility in Dayton where we have one of the best-equipped shops in the industry and some of the most experienced and talented craftsmen. We knew it did not make sense to duplicate that capability. By centralizing our production capacity in a lower costs market, we will optimize efficiency and take advantage of economies of scale. These efficiencies will allow ECI to offer a very competitive price structure to all our clients.” The Chicago operation will handle minor repairs, storage and preparing exhibits for upcoming shows. Sales, account management and design will also be coordinated in Chicago. The office will continue to support ECI’s tradition of creativity, quality and unsurpassed service.
