As a Maryland museum of archaeology, Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum focuses on the changing cultures and environments of the Chesapeake Bay region as revealed through the archaeological evidence of the past 12,000 years.

Interpretative exhibits utilize hands-on activities, multi-media, scenic elements, and dynamic graphics to help visitors gain a better understanding of the science of archaeology. In addition, the visitors discover the role of the archaeologist from field excavation to artifact preservation and interpretation.
